An exceptionally fine quality French 19th century tortoiseshell and Boulle bracket clock with gilt face set into the most fabulously inlaid fret-cut boule case, decorated all round including the rear door.
Eight day striking movement with gilded, chased dial with individual enamel segmented enamel Roman numerals.
It is extremely unusual for the backs of these clocks to gave such finely worked decoration to the back and rear door and is a testament to its outstanding quality. Probably done to stand on a mantlepiece with an overmantel mirror behind to display the splendour of the craftsmanship
