Finely cast mid 19th century bronze model of a recumbent lion after the originals by Antonio Canova.
The Canova Lions, sculpted by Antonio Canova in 1792 for the tomb of Pope Clement XIII[1] in St Peter's in Rome. The originals were sculpted from marble; this example is cast in patinated bronze with good detail.
